Fitness affiliate programs: how they pay and how to choose

Updated 2026

A fitness affiliate program pays you for qualifying referrals to a product or service. You recommend something, the brand attributes an eligible purchase or signup to you, and you receive the agreed commission. You generally do not fulfill orders or provide the brand's customer support.

Ask which product your audience would buy, what earns commission, and how much work those purchases take.

This guide is published by Workout Lock, which operates its own Partner Program. The comparisons include other options and distinguish verified terms from information you need to confirm.

The main types of fitness affiliate program

Category What the customer buys Natural content fit Main tradeoff
Equipment Racks, weights, cardio machines, small tools Reviews, setup tours, equipment tutorials Expensive products can require long purchase decisions and practical delivery coverage
Nutrition Food, protein, supplements Recipes and product comparisons Recommendations need more care than a commission-driven shopping list
Apparel Clothing and accessories Fit checks and gym outfits Sizing, returns, and audience price sensitivity matter
Consumer apps Workout tracking, classes, focus tools Demonstrations and training routines Free alternatives and subscription resistance can reduce purchases
Professional software Coaching and gym-management tools Trainer education and business content Buyers are fitness professionals, not ordinary gym clients
Education Certifications and courses Career advice for prospective trainers Credentials and jurisdiction need checking

Workout Lock belongs in the consumer-app category. Its focus is phone distraction during gym sessions. It does not supply exercise plans.

How much do fitness affiliate programs pay?

There is no single useful industry rate. In the verified sample, Titan advertises 5% on equipment sales, while Trainerize advertises 15% recurring commission on eligible paid subscriptions and add-ons. Those are different products and different earning mechanics.[1][2]

Common structures are a percentage of an eligible sale, a fixed bounty for a qualifying signup, a recurring share of eligible subscription payments, or a share of defined profit. A monthly subscription does not prove the affiliate receives renewal commission.

These figures are made up. 400 tracked clicks × 2% approved purchase rate × €10 commission per purchase = €80. If making the content takes four hours, that is €20 per production hour before your other costs and taxes. These are arithmetic assumptions, not conversion benchmarks.

For a profit share, ask what the base means. If a hypothetical referral produces €30 of eligible profit, a 50% share pays €15. If it produces €10, the same percentage pays €5. Those figures are illustrations. Workout Lock pays 50% of net proceeds on the first annual purchase: the amount left after Apple's commission, taxes withheld by Apple, and refunds or chargebacks.

Physical products versus software

Equipment can produce a larger commission from a single expensive order, but fewer followers may be actively shopping. A low-priced app can be easier to demonstrate and does not require shipping, but downloads and free trials do not necessarily generate earnings.

Recurring commissions can reward customer retention. They can also stop when customers cancel, when the permitted earning period ends, or under the program agreement. Repeated purchases of physical goods count only when the program attributes those purchases to you.

Choose the content opportunity first. A home-gym comparison may suit equipment. A tutorial for coaches may suit software. A video about scrolling between sets may suit a distraction-blocking app.

What makes a program worth joining?

Start with audience fit, product usefulness, and price. Then read the attribution and payment terms. Ask whether links survive an app installation, whether codes earn commission, whether another affiliate can overwrite attribution, and whether existing customers qualify.

Confirm the payment threshold, currency, fees, reversal policy, reporting access, allowed promotion channels, and any exclusivity. Clicks in a dashboard are not the same as approved cash earnings.

Test one offer through a useful piece of content before filling your bio with ten links. Keep a record of content time, clicks, eligible purchases, approved commission, and payment. Compare actual earnings per hour with your alternatives. For how to turn a fit into posts, see promoting affiliate offers to fitness followers.

Workout Lock Partner Program

If your audience keeps its phone nearby for music or workout logging but gets sidetracked by distracting apps, Workout Lock addresses a relevant problem. The iOS app is designed to help people finish workouts on time by blocking distracting apps during workouts.

Approved partners earn 50% of Workout Lock's net proceeds from the qualifying purchase, subject to terms. Net proceeds are what remains after Apple's commission, taxes withheld by Apple, and refunds or chargebacks. Commission applies to the first annual subscription bought through the Partner offer. Renewals do not earn commission. The customer enters the partner code in the app. The code is valid for 30 days, and a purchase in that window stays attributed. Payouts are monthly after a 30-day hold, with a €50 minimum. It is a digital product that can be demonstrated in existing gym content.

Frequently asked questions

Can small fitness creators become affiliates?

Sometimes. Requirements differ by program. A published minimum follower count, an application review, and marketplace admission are different requirements. Apply with relevant content and accurate audience data. Approval is not automatic.

Do affiliate links need disclosure?

Yes, commercial recommendations need appropriate disclosure. US FTC guidance covers paid and other material brand relationships. That guidance is written for the United States, and other local rules can also apply.[3][4] Make your connection clear where people encounter the recommendation, including in the video itself where appropriate.

Should I choose recurring commission over a sale commission?

Only when the product converts, the earning period is suitable, and customers stay. A high percentage on a product nobody wants can pay less than a modest commission on a useful purchase.
